Thiruvannamalai Lord Arunchaleswarar Temple: Lakhs of devotees undertake Girivalam on Full Moon Day!

Lakhs of devotees undertook ‘Girivalam’ (taking a walk across the bottom of the mountain) on the Occasion of the Full Moon Day (Pournami or Poornima) at the Thiruvannamalai Lord Arunchaleswarar temple!

In fact, the devotees had started undertaking ‘Girivalam’ right from yesterday (Friday, 6th January) afternoon! By 6.oo PM in the evening, the crowd of devotees started swelling in large numbers!
Further, the devotees had to stand in long queues in the common and paid routes for having the Darshan of Lord Arunchaleswarar!
Further, police personnel were deployed for safety throughout the Girivalam route!

As the time for the Pournami (Full Moon) was up to 4.20 Am today (Saturday, 7th January), the large number of devotees undertook ‘Girivalam’ during the entire night session!

Thiruvannamalai Lord Arunchaleswarar temple: Divineflag-hoisting performed for Uthrayana Holy Season!

The divine flag-hoisting ceremonymarking the advent of the ‘Utharayanam Punya’ season (Commencement of theholy/sacred period of Utharayanam – the summer half of the year) was performedat the famous temple of Lord Arunchaleswarar in Thiruvannamalai!

Thousands of devotees participated inthe event of divine flag-hoisting and had Darshan of Lord Arunchaleswarar!

Thirukkarthigai festival, special pooja performed on the Copra at Thiruvannamalai!

The famous ‘Thirukkarthigai Deepam THirvizha’ at Thiruvannamalai Lord Arunchaleswarar Temple was celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm with Maha Deepam Lighting as the climax.

The Maha Deepam was lit on the top of the 2668′ high mountain!

Subsequently, the Maha Deepam was there on top of the mountain for 12 days!

With the conclusion of the Maha Deepam lighting and the Deepam Thirukkarthigai festival, a special pooja was performed on the Copra of Maha Deepam on 17th December.
