Festival begins with flag hoisting at Tiruvannamalai Annamalaiyar Temple on Karthikai Deepam 2022.
The hugely popular Deepam festival at the Lord Arunchaleswarar temple in Thiruvannamalai commenced yesterday (Sunday, 27th November) with the divine flag-hoisting ceremony!
Subsequent to the divine flag-hoisting ceremony, the idols of the Panchamurthys were brought to the 16-pillar Mandapam at 10.00 AM to offer Darshan to the devotees!
After this, the idols of Lord Arunchaleswarar and His Divine Consort Goddess Unnamulai Amman were taken on a procession in the Velli Vimanam (Silver Carriage) and the deities of Lord Vinayaka, Goddess Parasakthi Amman, Lord Subramanya, and Chandikeswarar were carried on a glass carriage on a procession offering Darshan to a large number of devotees!

The Karthikai Deepam 2022 festival kicks off tomorrow with the worship of Tiruvannamalai’s boundary god (Ellai Theivam). The flag will be hoisted on December 27th, while the main event, the Mahadeepam festival, will take place on December 6th. The towers of Thiruvannamalai are lit up as the festival of lights is about to begin
1008 Sanghabhishekham performed at Thiruvannamalai!
On the super-special occasion of the Tamil Calendar Month Karthigai on the ‘Somvar’ (Monday), a 1008 Sangabhishekham (Pooja offering of 1008 conches to Lord Sri Arunchaleswarar) was performed in the sanctum sanctorum of the Lord yesterday (Monday, 21st November.
A special ‘Yagasala’ was set up in the front of the Sanctum Sanctorum of Lord Sri Arunchaleswarar and a special pooja was performed in the Yagasala offering 1008 conches (Sangus).
Subsequently, the holy water with which the 1008 Sanghabhishekham was performed was used for performing Abhishekham on the main deity of the Lord Arunchaleswarar.
Thousands of devotees participated in this holy event and had the special Darshan of the Lord Arunchaleswarar!
