Pradosham is a bi monthly worship to Lord Shiva. It falls on the 13th day of every fortnight in the Hindu calendar. The Pradosham is named after the day of the week it falls on. For example, if it falls on a Monday, it is called Somapradosham, Tuesday is called Bhauma Pradosham, and so on. This fortnight was Shani Pradosham. Among the pradoshams, Soma and Shani are believed to be most auspicious. The period of worship is 3 hours – one and half hours each before and after sunset.

On pradosham day, devotees observe a fast from sunrise to sunset. On this day, Nandi is worshipped along with an idol of Lord Shiva and his consort Parvati seated on Nandi. They are then taken on processions around the temple complex.
