Release of special journal marking the occasion of Kumbabhishekham of the Lord Annamalaiyar temple

In a special function, the journal on the occasion of the Kumbhabhishekham of the temple of Lord Annamalaiyar (2017) was released. The event was organised at the Auditorium of the Chennai Raja Annamalaipuram Chettinad Vidyasharam School at 4.00 PM on 18th January.

The journal was released by the central defence minister Ms Nirmala Seetharaman and was received by the well-known industrialist A. C. Muthiah Chettiar.

Other participants on the occasion included- Annamalai Nagarathar Ubhayatharargal, the committee president S. Alagappan, Treasurer N. Narayanan, Devakottai S, Ramanathan, the temple Sivacharyas Thiagayaraya gurukkal, Ramesh gurukkal, Keerthivasan gurukkal, Gokul gurukkal, and Thiruvannamalai Rajaram.

Festival events in Lord Arunachaleswarar temple

Lord Arunachaleswarar offered Darshan to the temple Nandhis in the very early morning. At 7.00 AM, Lord Arunachaleswarar deity was taken to ‘thittivasal’ from where the Lord offered Darshan to the Sun God.

Then, the deity of the Lord Arunachaleswarar was taken in procession for 3 rounds in the temple corridors. After this, the festival of ‘Thiruvoodal Utsavam’ was performed in the Thiruvoodal Street.

‘Girivalam’ is scheduled tomorrow (Wednesday, 16th January).

Nandhi alangaram event took place at the Arulmigu Om Arunachaleswarar Temple in Tiruvannamalai.

Grand Theerthavari performed in Tiruvannamalai temple

The grand event of Theerthavari was performed in the Tamil calendar month Thai in Tiruvannamalai temple for Arulmigu (Lord) Chandrasekhar with the deity of the Lord being taken to the banks of the lotus pond.

Flag Hoisting for Utharayana Punyakalam commencement

As per the Hindu religious calendar, the Utharayana period is set to start. On the occasion of the Utharayana Punya Kalam commencement, the divine flag-hoisting ceremony was performed on 5th January (Friday) at 8.30 AM in the presence of the deities of Chinna Nayakar, Parasakthi Amman, and Lord Vinayaka.

Ramana Maharishi’s 138th birth anniversary

Mahan Ramana Maharishi was born 30th December 1879 in the place called Tiruchuzhi, near Madurai. He attained Moksha after he visited Thiruvannamalai and got enlightened.

The birth anniversary of Sri Ramana Maharishi is being celebrated annually in the Ramansharam located on the Thiruvannamalai girivalam route.

Accordingly, on the Tamil star Punarpoosam during the Tamil calendar month of Margazhi yesterday (Wednesday, 3rd January), Sri Ramana Maharishi’s 138th birth anniversary was celebrated at the Ramanashram. Rudra abhishekham was performed at 4.00 AM. Then, special adornment was done followed by Deeparadhanai and special Tamil religious chanting was performed.

Thiruvannamalai Temple Elephant off to participate in rejuvenation camp

The elephant of the Lord Arunachaleswarar temple at Thiruvannamalai has been sent to participate in a rejuvenation camp.

A special camp for elephants’ welfare is organized by the state government of Tamil Nadu. This camp is scheduled to commence on 4th January at the Tekkampatti forest area in Coimbatore District.

The temple elephant of the famous Thiruvannamalai temple is also being sent to participate in this camp and was sent off in a special truck. Special prayers were conducted for the elephant before sending off.

Today (1st January) is a Full Moon Day in the sacred Tamil month of Margazhi. In the month of January, we will have 2 full moon days. The 2nd Full Moon Day occurs on 30th January. Here is a glorious snap of the Full Moon.

Events

On Saturday, 30th December, Sani Pradosham was performed in the Lord Arunachaleswarar temple in Thiruvannamalai.

A special ‘sandal abhishekham’ and ‘milk abhishekham’ were performed on the Lord Nandhi (Larger Nandhi) in the 5th corridor of the temple. Tomorrow is the occasion of Sri Arudhra Darshan.

Today (Monday, 1st January 2018), the deity of Lord Nataraja in the 2nd corridor, along with His Consort Sivakamasundari will be shifted to the 1000-feet mandapam in the 5th corridor of the temple.

Tomorrow (Tuesday, 2nd January) Special Abhishkeham will be performed early morning to the deity of Lord Nataraja and then Mahadeeparadhana will be performed. The black soot from the sacred deepam will be applied on the deity.

Lord Nataraja will then be taken on a procession via the Thrumanjana Gopuram to the temple corridor street to offer Darshan.
