The holy Mahadeepam visible for the 11-Thirukkarthigai festival draws to end!

The traditional grand ‘Thirukkarthigai Deepam’ festival in Thiruvannamalai Lord Arunachaleswarar temple commenced with the divine flag-hoisting ceremony on 1st December.

As the festival progresses, on 10th December at 6.00 PM, the sacred ‘Maha Deepam’ was lti on top of the 2668’ mountain.

Subsequently, the Maha Deepam was visible and offered Darshan to the devotees over the last 11 days. Maha Deepam came to a conclusion with yesterday (Friday, 20th December) night.

On this occasion, thousands of devotees climbed the mountain and had a Darshan of the Maha Deepam.

With the conclusion of Maha Deepam, the lamp (Copra) on which the Maha Deepam was lit will be taken back to the Lord Annamalaiyar temple this morning (Today, Saturday, 21st December) and special poojas will be performed.

Conclusion of the grand Thirukkarthigai Deepam festival at Thiruvannamalai temple!

The grand yearly tradition of the Thirukkarthigai Deepam festival commenced at the famous Thiruvannamalai Lord Arunachaleswarar temple on 28th November (Thursday) and performed with great verve, enthusiasm and paraphernalia for 16 days.

The grand festival concluded on 14th December (Saturday) with the Lord Chandikeswarar festival.

On the 11th Day of the Grand Thirukkarthigai Deepam Festival at the Lord Arunachaleswarar temple at Thiruvannamalai, special poojas and abhishekhams were was performed on the deity of Lord Chandrasekharar at the temple pond ‘Ayyankulam’, also known by the name‘Theppal Indira Theertham’.

The much-awaited most momentous event of the GRAND 10-day Thiruvannamalai Thirukkarthigai Deepam festival, the lighting of the ‘Maha Deepam’ was performed at 6.00 PM on 10th December.

Prior to the lighting of Maha Deepam, the deities of Panchamurthys (Lord Vinayaga, Lord Muruga, Lord Arunachaleswarar, His Consort Goddess Unnamalaiyamman and Lord Chandikeswarar) along with the deity of Lord Arthanareeswarar were taken from their Sanctum Sanctorum and Taken out through the 2nd corridor of the temple to the Mandapam to offer Darshan to the enormous gathering of devotees.
