Ban on Girivalam at the Arunachaleswarar temple from 3.12 AM on 28th to 1.18 AM on 29th!

The Collector of the District of Thioruvannamalai has ordered a ban on undertaking ‘Girivalam’ on the occasion of the Full Moon Day (Pournami) at the Om Arunachaleswarar Temple from 3.12 AM on 28th March (Monday) until 1.18 AM on 29th March (Tuesday).

This ban is a preventive measure taken against the fast-spreading resurgent coronavirus pandemic!

Mahasivarathri festivities/rituals at Thiruvannamalai Lord Arunchaleswarar temple!

On the sacred occasion of the Maha Sivarathri, a recital performance of Nadaswaram-Thavil for the entire day for 24 hours was organised on behalf of the ‘Thavil Isai Association’.

A special music performance was organised for ‘WORLD PEACE” for the 39th Music Festival at the ‘Alankara Mandapam’ located in front of the Lord Annamalaiyar Main Temp-le Tower.

Music recitals by the musical group under Kalaimaamani T R Pichandi were performed presided by the Lord Annamalaiyar Temple Thakkar, Joint Commissioner Gnanasekhar.

Several hundreds of audience, including the Music Artists, the temple staff and officers, and the devotees attended this programme.

NO Girivalam allowed on the Pournami day, 26th February

The news that has come out now is that the district collector had mentioned that the pournami girivalam at om arunachala temple in Thiruvannamalai would be banned from 3:49 pm in the evening on 26th February 2021 to 2:42 in the evening on 27th February 2021. The reason for that was because of the Covid-19 control measures to control the spread of the pandemic.
