The spring festival would be conducted during 10 nights in the 3rd corridor of the temple near the Magizha Maram (which is the designated sacred tree for this temple in Thiruvannamalai) in the ‘Panneer Mandapam’.
The deity of Lord Somasjandhan (Periya Nayakar) will be adorned and decorated and would be placed in the special awning made of citronella – ‘Vettiver Pandhal’. And mirrors will be placed alongside. The deity will offer Darshan to the devotees as seen from the mirror.
It is a traditional custom practiced over centuries to worship the deity in Panneer mandapam by offering flowers.
During this period, Odhuvars (those who chant) Sthanikars, Yevalars (Office staff) and Kavalars (Security staff) will be honoured and will be offered the sacred rod. Thus, Lord Annamlaiyar offers Darshan on the occasion of the 10 days spring festival.
