Kathiri veyil a special arrangement at Thiruvannamalai temple

With the peak of the summer season, better known as kathiri veyil or agni nakshatram commenced on 4th May, a thara pathiram (vessel) filled with rose water has been set up on top of the the presiding lings of the temples of Lord Shiva including the temple of Lord Thondareeswarar temple in Thiruvannamalai. This will facilitate to reduce the intensity of the sun rays and the heat in the sanctum sanctorum.

After performing theerthavari in the Ayyankulam in the morning session, special abhishekham was performed in the Arunagireeswarar temple, After this, during the night session, The deities of Periyanayakar and Parasakthi Amman offered darshan to the devotees on the full moon day at the Gopla Pillayar temple ‘Mandagappidi’.

The deities entered the 3rd corridor of the temple in the local administration office mandapam via ‘thittivasal’ and then the event of ‘Manmaha burning’ was carried out.
