On the occasion of Pournami this month, the temple conducted ceremonies that drew large crowds. The statue of Nandi was given Abhishekam. Then, the Lord and his consort, sitting on the Nandi, were taken around the premises in procession. Seen here are photographs of the festivities.

Thara Abishegam at Thondareeswarar Thirukovil
Prathosam Agni Natchathiram falls to be on this day; owing to this there are special Pooja and Thara Abishegam taking place at Thondareeswarar Thirukovil located at Thiruvannamalai. The idol is decorated with beautiful flower decorations and the shrine is embellished with vibrant lamps lit all around. People throng in to get blessings from the lord.

10th Day of Vasantha Utsavam – Burning of Manmatha
On the 10th day of the Vasantha Utsavam, the effigy of Manmatha was burnt at 11.30 in the night. The event signifies the story in which the Lord opens his third eye to burn the Lord of Love when the latter disturbs his penance.
