Devotees NOT allowed for this year’s Maha Deepam at Omarunachala Temple!!
The district collector has announced that for this year’s Barani Deepam and Maha Deepam at Tiruvannamalai temple, the devotees would not be allowed. It is worthy to mention here that on Wednesday, 10th November 2021, Thirukarthigai Maha Deepam would start between 6:30 am in the morning to 7:25 am in Vrischika lagna with flag hoisting.
The seventh day function of pancha moorthigal would take place on 16th November, Tuesday. Information is that on the 10th day the festival would take place at early morning 4am inside temple sanctuary barani deepam would be lit. It is well known that this would be a festival the whole world is eagerly waiting for. In the evening, at 6pm maha deepam would be lit on the mountaintop at a height of 2668 ft. On 1st November, an arrangement regarding how to conduct the karthigai deepam festival at the temple was discussed at the office of the district administrator of Tiruvannamalai district. The chairman of the district administration Mr. P. Murugesh took part in the meeting and shared his thoughts.
It was mentioned by Mr P. Murugesh that on 10th of November karthigai deepam festival would begin with a flag hosting event and on 19th November at 4am in morning barani deepam and 6pm in the evening maha deepam would be lit. He then highlighted that due to Coronavirus pandemic various safety protocols must be followed compulsorily.
It must be noted that on the days of karthigal Brahmostavam festival here devotees would be allowed to have darshan from 7th November to 17th November and from 21st to 23rd November. Just 10,000 devotees would be given permission to have darshan from 6:30 am to 8pm.
On 19th November, due to barani deepam, the devotees would NOT be allowed to have darshan at this temple. The karthigai deepam festival would be telecasted live in TV channels, Youtube, plus in local cable TV channels etc.
