Chithra Pournami girivalam in Thiruvannamalai on 3rd May!

It has been announced that the occasion of ‘Chithra Pournami’ (the full moon day in the Tamil month of Chithirai’) occurring on 3rd May is ideal to undertake girivalam in Thiruvannamalai temple.
Chithra Pournami special prayers have been arranged at Lord Annamalai temple at Thiruvannamalai on 3rd May.
The special Darshan/Prayers will be from 7.52 AM (3rd May) till 8.48. AM (4th May).
The Hindu Religious Endowment Board has declared Sunday, 3rd May, will be ideal for undertaking girivalam (making a complete circular trip around the mountain).
Over 10 Lakh devotees are expected together on this sacred day at the temple as per the information from District Administration and district Police Department.
Special arrangements
Over 2500 police personnel from 6 zones of the Police Department would be deployed for security.
1200 special buses will be operated by the Tamil Nadu State Corporation.
Joint Collector, Mr. Senthilvelavan, eexplained:
·         The regular ‘Amarvu Dharisanam’ at the Sanctum Sanctorum of the main deity & His Consort has been cancelled
·         Recommendation letters for Temple Darshan will not be accepted.
·         Devotees will be permitted to enter only through Rajagopuram.
·         The devotees will have to exit via ‘Bay’ Gopuram.
·         General Darshan, special Darshans for Rs, 20/- & Rs. 50/- will function as usual.
·         Surveillance comers will monitor the movements of devotees.
·         Devotees are instructed to avoid using plastic items.
