The special ‘Pandhakkaal’ceremony marking the beginning of the grand Deepam Festival was performed today morning (1st October).

Special Abhishekham and deeparadhana were performed for the occasion of ‘Pandhakkal’ event in the sanctum sanctorum of Lord Sambandha Vinnayakar.

After this, with the Sacred temple ‘Pichakar’ Raghu carrying the ‘Pandhakkal’, special Deeparadhanai was performed for the ‘Pancha rathas’. Subsequently, the sacred ‘Pandhakkal’ was set up in front of the Rajagopuram.

The occasion was presided over by the Joint Commissioner R. Jagannathan. The Minister for the Hindu Endowment Department, S. Ramachandran, the district collector, K. S. Kandhaswamy and thousands of devotees participated on this grand occasion.

The grand Navarathri festival occasion and celebration will be performed with special prayers and pooja and processions in the famous Thiruvannamalai temple of Lord Arunachalewara.

On the 3rd day of Navarathri, the deity of Goddess Gajalakshmi will be specially adorned with jewels and flowers.

A grand procession of the deities of Goddess Durgai Amman (Andal) and the Goddess Aadhi Kamakshi Amman will be taken on a special palanquin carriage of the Goddess Madurai Meenakshi.
