6th Day of the Chithirai Festival at Thiruvannamalai Temple

On the 6th Day of the grand Vasantha Utsavam, the deity of the Lord Periyanayakar Somaskandar was especially adorned and was brought to the specially erected ‘Vettiver pandhal’. The deity was offered prayers and worship by the devotees for some time. Subsequently, the event of showering of the dolls of the service girls dressed in silk with 10 holy rounds around the pandhal.

Subsequently, the deity was brought to the ‘Thacholi Mandapam’ (where the temple construction workers took rest when the temple was built) and a grand Deeparadhanai was performed.

As Chithra Pournami is scheduled o start at 7.11 PM on 18th April, Thursday, the devotees visiting Thiruvannamalai, after casting their votes in their respective polling booths, may visit during the evening or night.

It is a great tradition and extremely sacred and good to take a ‘pradakshan’ (a round) of the mountain This will also provide relief from the scorching sun!

4th Day of the Spring Festival at Thiruvannamalai Temple

On the 4th Day of the grand Spring Festival (Vasanth Utasvam) being celebrated at the Thiruvannamalai Lord Arunchaleswarar temple on Saturday, 13th April, the deity of the Lord Aruncahelswarar was brought to the Panneer mandapam located near the Magizha maram on the 3rd corridor of the temple. Subsequently, the ceremony of showering the deity with dolls decorated with yellow silk clothes was performed.

On 14th April, Tamil New Year Day with the start of the Tamil calendar year Vikari, a very rare and special occurrence of the sun’s rays falling directly on the Lingam of the Lord in the sanctum sanctorum at 6.30 AM.

The Hindu Almanac or ‘Panchangam’ will be offered to the Lord Sambandha Vinayakar at the Sanctum Sanctorum and then the Panchangam will be read by the Sivacharyas.

On the 1st day of the grand spring festival (‘Vasantha Utsavam’) at the Thiruvannamalai Lord Arunchaleswarar temple on Wednesday, 10th April, the deity of the Lord Periya Nayakar was taken to the 3rd corridor of the temple in the ‘Panneer mandapam’ located near the ‘Magizhamaram’ and then the ceremonial event of showering of dolls was performed.

Chitirai Festival – Laying of wooden supports for Pandhal erection In Thiruvannamalai temple

The ceremony of laying and setting the wooden pillar posts (Pandhakkaal) for erecting the ‘Pandal’ was performed at 4.30 PM on 9th April, Tuesday for the commencement of the occasion of the spring festival (Vasantha Utsavam) in the Lod Arunchaleswarar temple in Tiruvannamalai.

This was done after Special abhishekhams were performed at the Sambandha Vinyakar sanctum sanctorum located at the 3rd corridor of the temple.

Pichagar Raghu and Viji carried the wooden pillar pole and it was set up before the sanctum sanctorum of the Lord Sambandha Vinayakar.

Famous Chithirai Vasantha Utsavam at the Lord Arunchaleswarar Temple, Thiruvannamalai

The famous and grand festival of ‘Chithirai Vasantha Utsavam’ (Spring Festival) is scheduled to be celebrated at the Lord Arunacjaleswarar temple, Thiruvannamalai from 10th April 2019 (Wednesday) (Tamil calendar month Panguni ) to 19th April (Friday) in TNew Tamil year of Vihari in the Tamil calendar month of Chithirai.

The fountain or the ‘Pandhakkl’ laying ceremony is scheduled at 4.30 PM on 0th April. During the noon session on 19th April, ‘Theerthavari’ will be performed at Ayyankula. The climax event of ‘Manmadha Dhaganam’ will be performed in the night.

Panguni Uthiram Thirukkalayanam performed in Thiruvannamalai temple

The grand festival of the famous ‘Panguni Uthiram Thirukkalyanam’ Festival was celebrated at the Lord Arunchaleswarar temple in Thiruvannamalai. On the 5th day of the festival at 12.00 Noon on 26th March, the deity of Lord Periyanayakar Somaskandhar and His Consort Parasakthi Amman were taken to the Thamarai Kulam (Lotus pond) and the ceremony of ‘Paligai viduthal’ was performed.

Subsequently, the deities of the Lord Somaskandhar and Goddess Ambal were taken to the ‘Raja Mandapam’ located on the banks of the Lotus Pond. During the evening, a special Abhishekham will be performed and the deity of the Lord will be taken on a procession.
