‘Pandhakkaal’ erection for the grand ‘Deepam’ festival at Thiruuvannamalai temple
With the ensuing grand festival of ‘Deepam Thiruvizha’ at the Lord Arunachaleeswarar temple at Thiruvannamalai, the inaugural ceremony of performing a special Abhishekham for the first wooden pole (Pandhakkaal in Tamil) for the erection of the thatched shed – known as Pandhal in Tamil – for the grand Deepam festival was organised at the Sanctum Sanctorum of the Lord Vinayaka in the temple.
Pichagar Raghu carried the wooden pillar which was erected opposite the main temple tower Rajagopuram after performing special ‘Deepaaradhanai’ to the holy chariots of the temple.

Thiruvannamalai district collector K S Kandaswamy inaugurated the introduction of new ‘prasadam bags’ with the printed slogans on Water Management Movement – Jalsakthi Abhiyan – at the famous Thiruvannamalai Lord Arunachaleeswarar temple complex on Wednesday, 18th September.
The Joint Commissioner R. Gnanasekharan, the officials of the Revenue Department and the temple staff participated in this event.

Aadi Pooram Festival at Thiruvannamalai Lord Arunachaleswarar Temple
After the deities of Lord Vinayaka and Goddess Parasakthi Amman are taken to the Sanctum Sanctorum of Amman Sannidhi, the sacred flag hoisting ceremony for the festival will be performed in the early morning at 5.20 AM on 25th July – the day on which the sacred festival of Aadi Pooram falls.
The Goddess Amman will be taken on a procession for 10 days across the corridor streets of the temple.
On 3rd August 2019, ‘Theerthavari’ will be performed at the sacred Sivagangai Theertha kulam.
After the ‘Theerthavari’, special Abhishekham will be performed for the deity of Goddess Parasakthi Amman at the ‘Valaikaappu Mandapam’.
The ‘thee midhi’ or fire-walking event is scheduled to be performed at midnight 12.00 in front of the Sanctum Sanctorum of the Goddess Amman Sannidhi.
