The divine procession of the deity of the Lord Periyanayakar on the carriage of Adhikara Nandi, the deity of His Concert Goddess Ambal in the carriage of Vellai Annam (Silver Swan), the deity of Lord Vinayaka in the carriage of silver mooshikam (silver mouse) and the deity of Lord Muruga in the carriage of peacock, and the deity of the Lord Chandikeswarar in the carriage of puli (tiger) will be organised the previous night.

Deepam festival begins with flag hoisting ceremony

The most important event of the grand Deepam Festival at the Arulmigu Om Arunachaleswarar Temple in Tiruvannamalai commenced today (Sunday, 1st December 2019) with the divine flag hoisting ceremony.

Grand ‘Deepam’ festival commenced yesterday at Thiruvannamalai temple!

It is a well-known tradition that with the advent of the Tamil Calendar month Karhigai (after Deepavali Celebrations), the full-moon day is celebrated as Karthigai Deepam festival!

And this Thirukkarthigai Deepam festival is especially famous and celebrated in a grand manner at the Lord Arunachaleswarar temple in Thiruvannamalai. A huge crowd of devotees attend this festival every year and have the holy Darshan of the Thirukkkarthigai Deepam lit on the top of the mountain.

The grand deepam festival for this year at the Lord Arunachaleswarar temple in Thiruvannamalai commenced yesterday (Thursday, 28th November) at 7.00 PM with the Goddess Durgai Amman festival.

Earlier, during the morning session, special Abhishekham, adornment (alankaram), and Deeparadhanai were performed on the main deity. These were performed on the deity of Goddess Sri Durgai Amman as well.

At 7.00 PM the fully and grandly adorned deity of Goddess Sri Durgai Amman was carried on the ‘Kamadhenu’ carriage (Holy Cow) and taken on a procession on the temple corridor streets.
