Ideal times for performing ‘Girivalam’ in Thiruvannamalai

Thiruvannamalai temple administration has announced the ideal time for performing ‘girivalam’ during the ‘Pournami’ this month.
Pournami (full moon) starts at 11.49 AM on Thursday, 12th June.
It will last till 10.08 AM on Friday, 13th June.
The time during Pournami is ideal to perform girivalam.

Bus stoppages shifted in Tiruvannamalai on occasion of Full Moon day

The district collector of Tiruvannamalai, Mr. Gnanasekaran had mentioned that on account of Full Moon day, all buses from Chennai should be parked opposite Corporation School at Thirukovilur Road.
Throughout the year, pilgrims engage in a practise called giri valam (circumambulation of Annamalaiyar temple and Annamalai hill 14 km in circumference), considered to be a simple and effective form of yoga. The circumambulation is started from the temple with barefoot and is considered a sacred act
On the ‘full moon day’ during the ‘girivalam’, no campaigning will be allowed in the ‘girivalam’ route. However, there will be clips about awareness on ‘NOTA’ option on the small s screens kept throughout the ‘girivalam’ route.
