Maha Kumbhabhishekam proceedings at the famous Thiruvannamalai temple

The revered marriage of Lord Arulmigu Annamalaiyar and his consort Shri Unnamulai Amman took place in grand in a grand manner on the night of 6th February. 2017.

After the divine marriage, all the 5 main deities of the temple called Panchamurthys were taken on a procession along the temple corridor. Lord Annamalaiyar was carried on his special carriage.

During the 4th day procession of the Maha Kumbhabhishekham, Lord Vinayaka was on the carriage of Karpaka Viruksham. On this day, the deities of Lord Muruga along with his 2 Consorts Valli and Deivayanai were carried on a silver chariot.

On the 5th day, the deity of Shri Parasakthi Amman was carried on Golden Bull Rishabam.

On the 6th day of the Maha Kumbhabhishekam, Lord Arunachaleswara was carried on the Silver Bull (Rishabam).

On the 10th day of the Maha Kumbhabhishekam, the deity of Lord Chandikeswara was carried on the silver Vimana.

All the grand events of this magnificent Maha Kumbhabhishekam were observed and cherished with devotion and fervor by thousands of devotees who had gathered there. Here are photographs of the event.

Lakhs of devotees witnessed the Maha Kumbabishekam held today after 15 years at Tiruvannamalai Annamalayar Temple. The temple is believed to be 1400 years old. Consecration or Kumbabishekam in Tamil is held here for once in 12 years. It was in 2002 that the previous consecration took place here and by then, the next one was planned after 15 years.

Holy waters from the Ganges, Yamuna and Kaveri rivers were brought for performing Yaga Pooja. The pooja was performed on 31st January. On 2nd February, consecrations for smaller temple towers of the temple including that of 63 Saivaite Nayanmars, the adjacent Sannadhi Amman samadhi, Navagrahams, Chitragupta, and Pidari Amman were performed.

Following this, the 12 Kala Yaga Pooja was performed at 3 am, consecration took place ffor the Rajagopuram, Ammani Amman Gopuram, Seya Gopuram and Thirumanjana Gopuram. The holy waters were taken amidst Vedic Mantras by Sivachariyars and the Maha Kumbabishekam was performed. Lakhs of devotees witnessed this event. Below are pictures of the same.

The grand consecration (Maha Kumbhabhishekham) of the famous Thiruvannamalai temple of Lord Annamalaiyar and his consort Unnamalaiyar was performed between 9.30 am and 10.30 am yesterday, the 2nd February, Friday.

The grand occasion of the consecration (Maha Kumbhabhishekam) included the Kumbhabhishekham performed on the smaller temple towers in the temple complex where all the 85 Sanctum Sanctorum (Sanctum Sanctorum is the place where deities reside) in the temple in different corridors of the temple including the Kamabathinaiyanar Periya Nandhi (Giant bull) in the 5th corridor of the temple, The Bhairavar Chinna Nandhi (small bull) in the 4th corridor, and the deity of Magizhamara Dakshinamurthy in the 3rd corridor, the deities of the 63 Saivaite Nayanmars, the adjacent Sannadhi Amman Sannidhi, Navagrahams, Chitragupta, and Pidari Amman are located.

As per scheduling done on the evening of 1st February, Wednesday, special pooranagadhi Deeparadhanai was performed during the third part of the day. In Tamil, it is called the Moondaram Kaalam.
