Thiruvannamalai temple administration has announced the ideal time for performing girivalam during the Pournami this month.

Pournami (full moon) starts at 9.54 AM on Thursday, Apr 21, 2016.

It will last till 11.53 AM on Friday, Apr 22, 2016.

The time during Pournami is ideal to perform girivalam.

The grand spectacle of sunlight falling on the main deity of Annamalai sivalingam

On the 1st day of the Tamil calendar 1st Month, Chithirai, when a new Tamil Year commences,it has been observed for hundreds of years that the rays of sunlight fall directly on the main deity form of the sivalingam in Thiruvannamalai temple.

This is very considered very auspicious in the traditional Hindu system.

It is indeed a grand spectacle watching the rays of sunlight falling on the main deity form.

First Day Of Vasantha Utsavam

On the first day of the Vasantha Utsavam, the Lord and his consort were taken around the temple premises for the darshan of his devotees. The temple elephant is also seen in the pictures.

Girivalam Timing at the Arunachala temple at Tiruvannamalai

Pilgrims believe that by worshipping at the Arunachaleswarar temple at Tiruvannamalai and go Girivalam on the new moon day will get the blessings of the Lord abundantly. Every full moon day of the month Girivalam is undertaken by the pilgrims. For this month the temple authorities have given the Girivalam timing as below:
