‘Aani’ (Tamil calendar Month) Brahmotsavam Festival at Thiruvannamalai
Aani Brahmotsavam was commenced yesterday (8th July) at Thiruvannamalai Temple with the ‘flag-hoisting’ ceremony.
Aani Brahmotsavcam is performed during the ‘Dakshinayana Punykalam’ and it commenced in Thiruvannamalai with flag-hoisting ceremony yesterday.
Special pujas with elaborate decorations and abhishekham were perfomed on the God Annamalaiyar & the Goddess Unnamulaiamman early in the morning.
God Annamalaiyar, Goddess Unnamulaiamman, and God Vinayaka were shifted to near the Golden flag pole.
The flag-hoisting ceremony commenced with the chanting of Vedas by Sivacharyas and bursting of crackers at the place opposite the sanctum sanctorum of God Annamalaiyar with the 72 feet high golden flag-pole.
A huge collection of devotees was thrilled to have the Darshan of the God & the Goddess with the chanting of ‘’Annamaliyanukku Arohara’!
The festival will continue for the next 10 days.
During the festival, the God, the Goddess, and the Lord Vinayaka idols will be taken on procession in different ‘Vahanas’ with Nadaswaram and Mirudngam musical performance through the different ‘Mada’ streets of Thiruvannamala to offer blessings to the devotees.
