Maha Deepam was lit in Om Arunachaleswarar Temple

The Thiruvannamalai temple holds immense popularity for the Karthigai Deepam festival that began in the early hours today. The barani deepam was lighted inside the temple premises. Nearly 20 lakh devotees are awaited at the Thiruvannamalai to find the Maha Deepam that is lit on top of Thiruvannamalai Hill.

When seen at 6.00 pm today, the lighted Deepam will look as though it is an agni that is a god’s blessing. This will look like it comes from the sky.

The foot hills here is filled with crowd of devotees all of whom are awaited to watch the Maha deepam inside the temple, on top of the hill.

Bharani Deepam was lit in Om Arunachaleswarar Temple

Owing to the auspicious day of Karthigai Deepam festival, Thiruvannamalai Arunachaleswarar temple was opened this morning and special Abishegam and Dheeparathanai were done.
At 3.20am, the Bharani deepam was lit inside the shrine of lord. A yagam was grown at the Artha Mandapam from where twenty Bharani Deepam were lit by Sivasariyargal. The Bharani Deepam was brought and shown to all devotees. A large number of people worshipped the lamp as it was taken around by a priest.
The key event of this festival the Maha Deepam at the Thiruvannamalai hill at a height of 2668 will be lit today evening at 6pm. Below are some of the pictures showcasing the Bharani Deepam event.

Karthigai Deepam Festival 2017 – Day 8 Night

On the 8th day of the grand Thirukkarthigai Deepam festival at the Thiruvannamalai Temple, the deities of Lord Somasundar, Goddess Parasakthi Amman, and Lord Chandikeswarar were taken with the carriage of the horse.

At 3.00 AM, The Mahadeepam copra was kept near the Chinna Nandhi and the lit copra is being taken atop the mountain for the Darshan of the Gomatha and the temple elephants.

Karthigai Deepam Festival 2017 – Day 5 Night

On the 5th night of the Grand Thiru karthigai Deepam festival being celebrated in the Thiruvannamalai temple, the deity of the Panchamurthys were taken on a procession and – Lord Vinayaka on the carriage of silver mooshika (mouse), Lord Subramanya along with His Cosorts Valli and Deivanai on the carriage of silver peacock, Lord Periyanayaka on the carriage of silver rishabha (bull), His consort Ambal on the carriage of a smaller silver rishabha (bull), and Lord Chandikeshwarar on the carriage of a smaller silver rishabha – offered Darshan to thousands of devotees.
