Special sacred events performed at Thiruvannamalai Lord Arunachaleswarar temple!

Special Abhishekham was performed on the Utasavamurthy (the idol taken for procession) of Lord Periya Nayakar along with His Consort Goddess Unnamualai Amman on the New Moon Day falling in the Tamil Calendar month of Vaikasi (on 7th June, Monday)!

Special sacred events performed at Thiruvannamalai Lord Arunachaleswarar temple!

Om 7th June (Monday), Pradosham on the New Moon Day (Amavasai or Amavasya in Tamil) falling in the Tamil calendar month of Vaikasi was observed. Special Abhishekhams were performed for the ‘Periya Nandhi’ located at the 5th Corridor of the temple and Deeparadhanai was performed.

Undertaking Girivalam NOT ALLOWED ON Full Moon Day at Thiruvannamalai temple!

As per the prevailing conditions of the 100% lockdown imposition as a preventive measure against the raging spread of the resurgent coronavirus pandemic, ordered by the State Government of Tamil Nadu, the DEVOTEES ARE NOT PERMITTED TO UNDERTAKE GIRIVALAM ON THE ENSUING FULL MOON DAY (until 5.36 PM today, Wednesday, 26th May)!

As per the above, an appeal has been made to the public/devotees not to undertake ‘girivalam’ and thus cooperate with the government orders!

The Collector of the District of Thiruvannamalai has made the following appeal:

“As per the guidelines issued by the State Government of Tamil Nadu on the prevention of the raging spread of the resurgent coronavirus pandemic, and for the safety of the public, AN APPEAL HAS BEEN MADE BOTH THE PUBLIC AND THE DEVOTEES TO EXTEND 100% COOPERATION!”

Full Moon Day (24th May) – Pradosham – Special poojas performed at Thiruvannamalai Lord Arunachaleswarar temple!

Monday, 24th May was a Full Moon Day on which Pradosham occurred. Being a sacred occasion of Pradosham on the Tamil Calendar month of Vaikasi on a Full Moon Day, Special Abhishekhams were performed on all 5 Nandhi’s located in the 5 corridors of the famous Thiruvannamalai Temple!

As devotees were NOT allowed to participate due to the prevailing lockdown imposition as a preventive measure against the raging resurgent coronavirus pandemic, the ‘Pradosham Prayers’ were performed during the evening on the ‘Periya Nandhi’ located in the 5th corridor of the temple!

Grand Chithirai Vasantha Utsavam – Celebrations at Tiruvannamalai Lord Arunachaleswarar Temple!

On the occasion of the 10th day (night) of the grand Chithirai Vasantha Utsavam (Special grand Spring festivals celebrated during the full moon period in the Tamil Calendar month of Chithirai), the deities of Lord Periyanayakar and His Consort Parasakthi Amman were taken on a procession from the Thirukkalyana Mandapam (Marriage Hall in the temple) to the Vasantha Mandapam located in the 3rd Corridor of the temple and the grand event of ‘Manmadha Dhaganam’ (Charring of the Love God Manmadhan by Lord Siva) was performed!

Chithirai Vasantha Vizha at Thiruvannamalai Lord Arunachaleswarar temple!

‘Sani Pradoshgam’ falling on 24th April (Saturday) was observed at the Thiruvannamalai Lord Arunachaleswarar temple. Special adornments were gicen to the ‘Sara Vilakku’ Nandhi located at the 2nd Corridor of the Lord Arunachaleswarar Temple and a special ‘Deepaaradhanai’ was performed!
