On the occasion of the New Moon Day (Amavasya) during the Tamil calendar month of Vaikasi, a special Maha Abhishekam was performed on the deities of Periya Nayakar and Parasakthi Amman.

Special Yagam today at Thiruvannamalai temple

With the conclusion of the peak summer period, Agni Nakshatram, a special Yagam, with 1008 sacred pots was performed at the sanctum sanctorum of the deity of the Sri Amman of the temple at Thiruvannamalai.

The 1008 sacred pots were taken in a procession in the 3rd corridor of the temple today (Monday, 28th May) at 10.30 AM. After this, special Abhsishekhams were performed on the main deity of the temple and then, Maha Deeparadhanai was performed.

Vaikasi Pournami – Ideal time for Girivalam

The Management of Thiruvannamalai Arunachaleeswarar Temple has recommended the ideal time to undertake Girivalam during the ensuing Vaikasi Pournami (Full Moon Day).

Ensuing Pournami (Full Moon Day) occurs today (28th May, Monday) starting from 7.34 PM till 8.38 PM on 29th May (Tuesday). This is the ideal period to undertake Girivalam.

Kathiri veyil a special arrangement at Thiruvannamalai temple

With the peak of the summer season, better known as kathiri veyil or agni nakshatram commenced on 4th May, a thara pathiram (vessel) filled with rose water has been set up on top of the the presiding lings of the temples of Lord Shiva including the temple of Lord Thondareeswarar temple in Thiruvannamalai. This will facilitate to reduce the intensity of the sun rays and the heat in the sanctum sanctorum.

Vasantha utsavam 10th day Chitra Pournami

After performing theerthavari in the Ayyankulam in the morning session, special abhishekham was performed in the Arunagireeswarar temple, After this, during the night session, The deities of Periyanayakar and Parasakthi Amman offered darshan to the devotees on the full moon day at the Gopla Pillayar temple ‘Mandagappidi’.

The deities entered the 3rd corridor of the temple in the local administration office mandapam via ‘thittivasal’ and then the event of ‘Manmaha burning’ was carried out.
