Yesterday (Wednesday, 4th October) being an important auspicious day of the Tamil Month Puratasi, on the Sathurthi day (4th day of growing fortnight phase of the Moon), a special Abhiskhekam was performed in a grand manner on the deity of Lord Nataraja. Thousands of devotees participated.

The same day evening, the Deity of Lord Nataraja was specially adorned and Deeparadhanai was performed.

The special ‘Pandhakkaal’ceremony marking the beginning of the grand Deepam Festival was performed today morning (1st October).

Special Abhishekham and deeparadhana were performed for the occasion of ‘Pandhakkal’ event in the sanctum sanctorum of Lord Sambandha Vinnayakar.

After this, with the Sacred temple ‘Pichakar’ Raghu carrying the ‘Pandhakkal’, special Deeparadhanai was performed for the ‘Pancha rathas’. Subsequently, the sacred ‘Pandhakkal’ was set up in front of the Rajagopuram.

The occasion was presided over by the Joint Commissioner R. Jagannathan. The Minister for the Hindu Endowment Department, S. Ramachandran, the district collector, K. S. Kandhaswamy and thousands of devotees participated on this grand occasion.
